As a Book of Wisdom

When the Book of Changes was edited and annotated with Confucius’s commentaries and ethical values, it became a Book of Wisdom that opened the richest treasure of Chinese wisdom. It is one of the five Classics of Confucianism that provide a common source for Taoist and Confucian philosophy. It advices as to what one should do and what one should not do according to one’s position and situation.

It also advices one when it is the time to sow, time to reap, time to rest and time to keep still and act appropriately. The sixty four hexagrams of the I Ching depict the sixty four cyclical situations with appropriate advices connoted with common sense and ethical values.
