Brief History

The ancient Chinese believed that legendary ancient sage Fu Xi was the originator of the creation of the I Ching. He was the one who created the 8 three-line trigrams called the 8 primary hexagrams forming the basis of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching we used today. When King Zhou composed the sixty-four accomplished hexagrams by combining the two trigrams, he has initiated the basis of long stream of Chinese culture. Hence, there are 64 accomplished Hexagrams which form the basis of the present I Ching.

King Wen rearranged the 64 hexagrams while he was imprisoned by the tyrant of the Shang dynasty whom he overthrown to establish the Zhou dynasty (1122 – 221BC). His creation has initiated the long stream of the Chinese culture.

Later, King Wen, the Duke of Wen composed the Yao Texts to complement the Texts by supplementing and interpreting the Yao Texts. However, it was Confucius who gave commentaries called the 10 wings annotated with moral values; which is also consider as a Book of wisdom.
